But now the question is posed, will this be the final update original Droid users receive?

There are talks that the next release after v2.2 will require a higher processor capacity than what the original Droid can handle.  That wouldn't be the smartest move by Google or their partners.

I understand shelf-life of technology is getting shorter every day.  But when you exclude a phone from updates and its not even a year old yet?  That is just poor business in my opinion.

Time will tell.

At the moment, I'm just eagerly awaiting my update this week.
